The journal encourages papers of exceptional interest from the full spectrum of structural investigations in cell and molecular biology. Contributions that relate to the structures of biological macromolecules described at atomic resolution, particularly those determined by X-ray crystallography or NMR spectroscopy, are welcome. So too are papers that report results from incisive mutational analyses, from biochemical studies, from comparisons and computational simulations and predictions, or from other physical approaches such as electron microscopy, neutron scattering, hydrodynamics, X-ray absorption spectroscopy or fluorescence energy transfer. The journal does not ordinarily publish low resolution X-ray crystallography studies although those with clear biological implications may also be considered.
